A Gentle Breeze by Fr. Nil Guillemette, S.J.
R5D2
About the Book:
This 2nd collection of God-tales is a continuation of a previous collection published under the title Greater Than Our Hearts. If the reader is already familiar with the first series of God tales, he will notice that this second series bears roughly the same characteristics, except that these are only 23 stories instead of 29, but on the otherhand, these stories are somewhat longer. For the rest, both series stem from the same basic vision. The "hero" is always God or Jesus, whether he features in the story or not, and his mysterious ways with people. Occasionally, a story will illustrate some aspect of Christian life seen as a response to what God wills for our own ultimate happiness.
My Point of View:
Honestly, I liked the 1st book better. There are, however, some stories that still makes me think and appreciate the wonders of God and His love. As the author has aptly put it, these stories are longer indeed, but quite lacking in the impact and the effect as those of the first compilation.
Some Good Stories:
- How God rewards one who speaks the truth in "Honest Truth, Inc."
- What happened when Jesus visited the "Three Kings"
- Do you know how to enter God's kingdom in "The Password"
- What do you really see in "Eagle's Eye"
- A what-if story of Jesus' death in "Believe It or Else"
- A puzzle given by St. Peter in "Who Knows"
