Parish Pastoral Council Meeting - 12 August 2001


1. Parochial Vicar Assignments

To provide supervision and coordination between the different parish organizations, our parochial vicars have been given the following assignments:

  • Fr. Joseph Lu - Legion of Mary
  • Fr. Rikki Miranda - acolytes, lectors, and choirs
The Couples for Christ and the Alay sa Diyos groups will be under the guidance of Fr. Pol Jaucian. Fr. Joseph has also agreed to assist Fr. Rikki with the FCCY.

2. 2002 St. Jude Calendar

The 2002 St. Jude calendars are to be printed and should be ready for distribution during the parish fiesta. The same background and format will be used. However, it has been suggested that Chinese dates be added as well. A quotation will be obtained and if the price is reasonable, the new calendars will be include Chinese dates.

3. Parish Fiesta 2001 Activities

The theme for this year's parish fiesta is "Go Forth in Hope." The planned activities for the fiesta are as follows:

  • Novena to St. Jude
    The novena will run from Oct. 19-27 after the 6:30 AM and 6:00 PM Masses.
  • Outreach Program
    St. Jude Parish, in cooperation with the Manila City Hall, will hold an outreach program to provide free medical, dental, and legal assistance to our parishoners. It will be held on Oct. 20 from 9-12 AM at the parish grounds.
  • Youth Cultural Night
    A Youth Cultural Night will be held on Oct. 27, Saturday night at the parish grounds. There will be a musical program, the theme of which is "Alay ng Kabataan para kay St. Jude." The 5th Gospel group is being eyed for the main act. The parish choirs will also be participating in the program.
  • Confirmation
    Confirmation will be held on the day of the fiesta, Oct. 28, at 10 AM in the St. Jude Catholic School auditorium. Confirmation age is 12 years old and above. Episcopal vicar Msgr. Agusto Laban will be invited to officiate the ceremony.
  • Youth Mass
    A Youth Mass is planned on Oct. 28, 3 PM at St. Jude Parish.
  • Procession
    The procession on the day of the fiesta will start at 4:00 PM. The procession this year will take a modified route because the old checkpoint on Mendiola has been sealed off.
  • Fiesta Mass
    The Fiesta Mass will begin at 5:00 PM. We plan to invite Bishop Socrates Villegas to celebrate the Fiesta Mass.
Regular Sunday Masses on the day of the fiesta will be at 6:30 AM, 8:00 AM, and 9:00 AM.

4. Parish Fiesta 2001 Assignments

The Parish Pastoral Council will be the executive committee for the fiesta activities. The different parish organizations have been given the following assignments:

  • Liturgy - Bro. Alex Pesengco, Sis. Mya Ocado, choirs, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, Fr. Rikki
  • Program and Communications - FCCY and Fr. Bel
  • Social Outreach Program - Sis. Paz Isip
  • Physical Arrangements - Mother Butler and Youth
  • Procession - St. Jude Men's Association
  • Refreshments - CWL and St. Jude Women's Association
  • Bisita de Barangay - Sis. Paz Isip and barangay representatives
  • Confirmation - St. Jude Catholic School Religion Dept. and Ate Lisa

5. St. Jude Parish Golden Jubilee

Miss Rosalee Cheng, dean of fine arts at the College of Holy Spirit, will be presenting her suggestions for the renovation of our church at the next parish council meeting. Fr. Bernardo Perez of San Beda has also recommended another interior designer, Maria Antonia Gabriel, who may be able to help us with the renovations.

6. Parish Newsletter

Fr. Bel reported to the parish council his plan to revive the parish bulletin. The bulletin will initially be printed quarterly and will contain information on parish events, as well as articles from contributors.
